Product Review: PMI-ACP® Classroom Course

ITpreneurs the leading provider of competence development solutions for IT best practices, is now offering courseware to those looking to obtain PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) credentials.
ITpreneurs asked Peter Lepiane, Agile Methods Coach, to review the course and provide his professional opinion. Here is what Peter says about the new PMI-ACP Exam Prep course…
“I recently reviewed the new ITpreneurs course offering for the PMI Agile Certified Practitioner and wanted to share my opinion.Overall, the course content is at an ideal depth, and is professionally and intuitively presented. There is plenty of content to choose from, given that the PMI suggests eleven different books, written by some of the “who's who of the Agile Manifesto” that PMI-ACP candidates may find helpful in their exam preparation. This three-day course does a great job of presenting all of it, while not seeming overwhelming.

I was specifically impressed with the following:

The organization of the content. I have taken prep courses for other certification exams and have been frustrated that the provider did not present the content according to the outline provided by the exam provider. This course presents the material in the exact same domains and categories as the PMI-ACP Exam Content Outline, taking the guesswork out of how you should organize and review the content in preparation for the exam.

The depth of the content. Unless you choose to read and study all eleven books in the suggested list, you will need some form of summarization of the content. Any summarization you choose, will have made a decision as to the depth of their summary.

This course, in my opinion, is at an ideal depth. Although it assumes familiarity with Agile concepts and principals (after all, exam candidates must have 1500 Agile project hours), it is approachable for those less familiar with Agile—while exploring enough depth in each topic to engage the more experienced Agile practitioner. Most importantly, it presents enough detail to answer the types of questions a candidate will see on the exam.

One thing is for certain, if I had taken this course to prepare for the PMI-ACP exam, I would not have had to search out secondary sources to complete my preparation.Congratulations to ITpreneurs for designing a course that adequately prepares candidates for the PMI-ACP exam.

If you are planning to take the PMI-ACP Exam, then I definitely recommend taking this course.”
